‘’I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own’’
-Viva la Vida
This was the first song of Coldplay I came across 2 years ago. At first it sounded too boring and monotonous and I wonder why the lyrics felt so blank. But eventually when I grew tired of my taste for drum and tin music, I turned back to Coldplay and slowly I began to appreciate it.

And in the following years, the release of “X &Y’’ and “Viva la Viva’’ made this British band a global artist, adding to their existing fan base of “Intelligent’’ listeners. After a gap of 5 years, they are back with their latest album “Mylo Xyloto’’, a much more distinctive work the band is known for has given singles like “Paradise’’, which won them an award for the ‘Best Rock Video’ “Every tear is a Waterfall’’ and “Princess of China’’ and “Hurts like Heaven’’.
With so many so commercial acts being successful, Coldplay has its own flavour and a very addictive feel to its music. With intelligent and actually meaningful lyrics, they come with a different melody every time. The band plays “Limestone Rock’’ as compared to “Hard Rock’’.The music is meditative and has a very romantic feel to it. One can truly connect with songs as they are a true reflection upon themselves. They also are involved in Concerts most of the time and continue to work for many charitable causes, contributing 10% of the band’s revenue generously.
‘’A band’s only unique thing is its chemistry, especially if none of you are prodigious players or particularly handsome. The one thing you have is your uniqueness, so we hold on to that’’ Chris Martins
And with an indomitable spirit and belief in music, Coldplay strives to work even hard and give rock a different name.
